The floating debris and muck that has plagued the lake for the past three weeks is becoming less of a problem. East-blowing Santa Ana winds to 30mph have dispersed and/or sank some of it, making launching okay on certain days. The marina as well and some of the coves can be hit or miss depending on wind conditions and direction. Reports are tough to come by on all fronts as most anglers have been staying home.
A National Bass West tournament yesterday saw 22 teams brave rough conditions with only a handful of five fish limits hitting the scales. A 14lb / five fish bag that also included the day’s big fish of 6 pounds, took home the cash and crown by local legend Bill Siemantel and partner Tim Tuttle.
A handful of big Stripers were caught on Lunker Punkers and swimbaits for the few anglers putting in the time, despite the lack of any recent Trout stockings. This lake is primed to explode for both species in the coming months as conditions improve.
