Castaic Lake Fishing Report 09/12/2021
Largemouth & Smallmouth Bass
Main-lake points and rocky shorelines bordering deeper water continue to hold good numbers of Bass to three pounds. Wacky rigged 5″ Senko’s and dropshot rigs remain effective, with some bigger fish taken on the Carolina rig fished with an uphill presentation. The topwater bite rebounded this week with smaller walking baits and flukes getting grabs fished on the mini Striper boils. Lots of fishing pressure and recreational boat traffic with Pyramid Lake being closed until the 17th.
Striped Bass:
The overall bite slowed considerably this week with most of the fish concentrated in a small area of the ski arm and getting hammered with every presentation possible. Small Stripers and Largemouth Bass returned to chasing baitfish on the surface and can be caught on umbrella rigs, small swimbaits and Kastmasters.
Castaic Afterbay:
The deep weed edge in 20 to 25 feet of water along the Eastern shore continues to hold the bulk of the Bass although the bigger models were hard to come by this week. C3 Baits Jobu’s are getting bit on the Carolina rig for fish to three pounds. Flukes fished on the inner grass line early in the day continue to get some grabs as well.
