fter yet another Trout plant, the bigger fish are still in the deeper water around the main basin/marina area. The bite has yet to fully materialize but a few quality fish are being had on topwater baits like Lunker Punkers and Lucky Craft Sammy 128’s. 8″ Huddleston Trout and Deps glidebaits are also getting the attention of some quality fish.

Largemouth Bass:

As we enter the Winter months, Bass fishing is generally slow overall. There are some windows of activity, usually during the warmest period of the day. The Bass have migrated to secondary and main lake points in the ten to thirty foot zone. Jigging spoons like a 1/8 to 1/4 ounce silver KastMaster or Rapala Ice Jig will get a few bites as well as a 2.8 size paddletail swimbait on a light jighead or dropshot rig. Small finesse style jigs and creature baits are a good option when the bite slows down.

Striped Bass:

After yet another Trout plant, the bigger fish are still in the deeper water around the main basin/marina area. The bite has yet to fully materialize but a few quality fish are being had on topwater baits like Lunker Punkers and Lucky Craft Sammy 128’s. 8″ Huddleston Trout and Deps glidebaits are also getting the attention of some quality fish. The bait bite at the forebay buoy line and Necktie Canyon is pretty consistent on one to three pound fish, with fresh sardines the bait of choice. The trolling bite is gaining steam with Alabama rigs, large KastMasters and trolling flies getting quality fish in the two to seven pound range for anglers putting in the time to narrow down the offshore bite.

Water conditions:

Surface temp 58-60 degrees

Water clarity 5′ to 15′ in most areas
