Castaic Lake Fishing Report 12/19/2021
Largemouth Bass:
A tough week weather-wise for anglers. Heavy rain and winds on most days limited opportunities. The lake was closed over the weekend due to heavy surface debris. They did allow launching on Sunday but it was electric motors only which made most boats turn around and head home. Fish are still biting slow presentations like finesse Carolina rigs, dropshots and Ned rigs in the twenty to thirty foot zone. There is also a decent Senko bite when the sun shines for more than a day. Main lake points are holding the bulk of the fish, in both the Ski Arm and Fish Arm. Better days ahead.
Striped Bass:
Another Trout plant kept the Stripers active on most Trout imitations like Lunker Punkers, Huddlestons and Spro BBZ-1 swimbaits. Anglers braving the conditions were rewarded with fish to twenty pounds. Schooling Stripers continue to bite Alabama rigs and Flies trolled on lead core line in the twenty to forty foot zone. The Ski Arm is holding good numbers of fish from Center Point up to Necktie Canyon.
